Social and economic justice are critical elements in achieving a society that truly offers equal opportunities for all. At The Brain Fund, we are working to create programs that address issues of inequality in a wide range of areas:
• Unequal educational opportunities that rob some of the best and brightest of the chance to attend college
• Financial burdens that saddle university graduates with excessive debt and limit their spending power for years or decades
• Failure to provide full employment opportunities for all U.S. citizens and to optimize productivity in the American economy
• Wage inequities and failure to pay a living wage for some of the hardest-working staff members on the corporate team
• Discrimination against individuals and groups based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief or other protected statuses
• Cycles of poverty that can continue for generations and limit opportunities to improve financial situations
• Stigmatization and marginalization of individuals suffering from mental disorders or cognitive disabilities
• Failure to reintegrate individuals previously confined within an unforgiving penal system into modern society, including reestablishing the rights of these individuals to viable employment opportunities and voting
Our innovative projects are designed specifically to address these issues with practical solutions and ideas that can be implemented to create greater equality of opportunities for all members of our society. The Brain Fund believes that finding the right answers to questions of economic and social inequality can bring us together as a nation and can create a brighter future for all U.S. citizens.
